ANTIOCH — Police serving search warrants this week on five businesses suspected of selling counterfeit goods say they also found a marijuana grow at one of the sites.

The search warrants were issued after police got word that the stores were selling counterfeit clothing, shoes, jewelry and sunglasses in violation of trademark law.

The charity’s annual “Touch of Love” Back-to-School Supply Giveaway takes place from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. this Saturday, Oct. 10, at Sunkist Elementary School, 935 Mayland Avenue in La Puente.

“We already have a black cat named Stumpy, who’s 22 years old, and they get on well.

“Bess has already used up two of her nine lives, but she’s settled in now. She quickly got her paws under the bar and she’s ready to make her debut with the customers.

DSM Specialty Intermediates B.V. (DSI) in Sittard (Netherlands) has todayannounced the intention to discontinue its operational activities by 31December2010 at the latest. As a consequence, DSI’s production activities at theChemelot industrial site in Sittard-Geleen will be stopped with effect from1July 2010. The closure will result in the loss of 37 jobs at DSI. DSMstrives toavoid forced redundancies as much as possible. DSM has asked the localWorksCouncil for advice on the intended closure.

Despite the strongeffortsof DSI’s management and workforce, it proved impossible to make DSIstructurallyprofitable, even after these measures.

Given this situation, the only option left is to close DSI. Therefore, theintention is to discontinue all operational activities by 31 December 2010atthe latest. In connection with this, the production activities will bestoppedearlier, with effect from 1 July 2010, after which the product stocks willbeused to meet the remaining supply obligations.
